PATAGONIAN TROUT FISHING EXPERIENCE IN MAGALLANES

Experience an unforgettable day in the southernmost landscapes on Earth, where the Patagonian steppe, rivers, and vast wilderness become the perfect setting for a one-of-a-kind sport fishing adventure.

This program was designed for travelers looking for much more than just fishing: disconnecting from routine, breathing pure nature, and experiencing Patagonia from the inside, alongside local guides specialized in recreational fishing in the Magallanes Region.

Throughout the day, you will learn basic spinning fishing techniques, explore breathtaking natural environments, and enjoy an authentic experience in one of the most stunning territories in southern Chile.

We operate under a responsible fishing and animal welfare approach through a mandatory Catch & Release policy, meaning all fish are carefully returned to their natural habitat. Keeping or transporting fish is not allowed.

🗓️ Full-Day Itinerary

🚐 7:00 AM – Pick-Up in Punta Arenas

The experience begins with passenger pick-up exclusively from accommodations located within Punta Arenas.

From there, we head toward carefully selected fishing areas depending on the season, weather conditions, and fish activity.

The drive itself is part of the adventure: Patagonian roads, endless steppe landscapes, and scenery that slowly transforms as we enter the purest wilderness of Magallanes.

During the journey, guides will share information about the area, safety guidelines, local species, and details about the regional ecosystem.

☕ 8:00 AM – Arrival at the Fishing Spot & Welcome in Nature

Once we arrive at the fishing location, we take a moment to settle into the surroundings and prepare for the day.

Guests will enjoy a warm Patagonian welcome including:

  • Coffee
  • Hot tea
  • Mate
  • Cookies and sweet pastries
  • Hot water available throughout the experience

At this time, each participant also receives an individual Box Lunch including:

  • 1 bottle of water
  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • 1 bag of mixed nuts

The box lunch is designed so each guest can enjoy it whenever they prefer throughout the day, at their own pace.

Afterward, the guide prepares the equipment and gives a simple, hands-on introduction to spinning fishing techniques, suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers.

⚠️ Important:

This experience includes spinning fishing only.

If you wish to practice fly fishing, you must bring your own complete equipment, as fly fishing gear is not provided.

🎣 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM | First Guided Fishing Session

The true Patagonian fishing experience begins.

We venture into carefully selected rivers and lakes where each participant can experience the thrill of trout fishing in its natural environment.

Throughout this session, the guide actively assists with:

  • Casting techniques
  • Lure selection and use
  • Reading the water
  • Identifying active fishing zones
  • Responsible fish handling

🔥 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM | Patagonian Outdoor Lunch

A break in the middle of nature to enjoy an outdoor meal surrounded by stunning Patagonian scenery.

Includes:

  • Traditional countryside-style dishes
  • Water
  • Juices
  • Soft drinks
  • Beer
  • Red wine

⚠️ Important:

If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or special food requirements (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.), please inform us in advance so we can adapt the menu accordingly.

Alcohol consumption is optional, with a suggested limit of one alcoholic beverage per person.

This moment is designed for relaxing, sharing the experience, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

🎣 1:15 PM – 5:00 PM | Second Fishing Session & Exploration

Continuation of the fishing experience.

Flexibility Note: If fishing conditions are not favorable or no catches occur, the day still becomes an incredible scenic and relaxing experience. We will head to the beautiful Laguna Parrillar, stopping first at a designated outdoor cooking area with fire pits where we’ll prepare and enjoy a delicious meal together. Then, fully recharged, we’ll explore the lagoon trail on a guided hike surrounded by native Patagonian forest.

Here, the experience is not about the result — it’s about the moment itself.

🚐 5:00 PM – Return to Punta Arenas

End of the experience and return to the city.

Drop-off at your accommodation within Punta Arenas or at a previously coordinated meeting point.

🎯 Target Species

Layered Clothing: In Patagonia, dressing in layers is key — think like an onion (thermal base layer, insulating layer such as fleece, and an outer shell).

Water & Wind Protection: A good waterproof jacket or wading jacket is essential.

Warm Feet: Thick socks are highly recommended (preferably merino wool or thermal socks), and bringing an extra pair is mandatory just in case.

Essential Accessories: Don’t forget a beanie, scarf, or Buff-style neck gaiter to protect yourself from the Patagonian wind.

Eye Protection (Optional): Polarized sunglasses are highly recommended to protect your eyes and help you better see the riverbed and fish movement.
